Live Stacking with Starlight Live
I have used Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM SLR Lens with a simple and
cheap Fotodiox
C-mount Canon lens adapter. I could not mount any filters, but it worked
fine with the whole assembly is mounted in an ADM scope ring (one was enough
since the lens is short and light) and placed on the top
of the main scope for tracking (it sat on top of Orion 10"). I did not
use dark frames here, so the pictures are a bit rough. Last 2 images are
from C14 Hyperstar with a new adapter made especially for Lodestar. All
images were taken with 50% Moon in the sky except the last two.
| [2016-11-7 20:28:27] M15 with 17-85mm Canon EF-S f/4-5.6 Lens set at 85mm and Lodestar.
First try with the lens. M15 is a small fuzzy ball in the middle, looks star
like at that scale. |
| [2016-11-7 20:44:15] Caroline Rose with 17-85mm Canon EF-S f/4-5.6 Lens set at 85mm and Lodestar.
This open cluster is again quite small even at maximum focal length. |

| [2016-11-7 20:54:14] Cassiopeia with 17-85mm Canon EF-S f/4-5.6 Lens set at 17mm and Lodestar.
This is the shortest focal length and largest field of view. Entire
constellation is in view. |
| [2016-11-7 21:00:34] Perseus with 17-85mm Canon EF-S f/4-5.6 Lens set at 17mm and Lodestar. |
| [2016-11-7 21:07:54] Pleiades with 17-85mm Canon EF-S f/4-5.6 Lens set at 17mm and Lodestar. |
| [2016-11-7 21:18:45] Pleiades with 17-85mm Canon EF-S f/4-5.6 Lens set at 50mm and Lodestar.
The last two pictures show the nice feature of the lens, I can go and change
focal length and thus magnification and zoom in/out. Fun! |

[2016-11-7 21:23:11] M31 with 17-85mm Canon EF-S f/4-5.6 Lens set at 50mm
and Lodestar. Moon was still in the sky, but now low in the west,
therefore I did not push to longer exposures. Looks very promising! Will try
again without the Moon. |
| [2016-11-7 23:24:42] M31 with Lodestar on C14 Hyperstar.
Now the Moon was almost gone so I tried to expose deeper. |
